HE ONLY took up tennis to alleviate the holiday blues - but Sam Siddon is now serving up a storm.

The 10-year-old is preparing to take his place among some of the top juniors from northern New South Wales at the Lismore Open Age tournament.

Casino Public School student Sam started playing a year ago at a holiday camp, with encouragement from his grandmother.

The workaholic right-hander now plays seven days a week and cannot get enough of. "I don't get sick of it," he said.

"I like how you can improve and get better. I also find it relaxing getting out on court.

"I'm aiming to get into the semi-finals or the finals (of the Lismore tournament). Hopefully I have a shot of doing well."

More than 100 players have entered the tournament, which takes place at the Lismore Tennis Club and gets started this Friday. …
