DONATIONS are coming from all sectors of the Queensland community to help fund the United Motorcycle Council's High Court challenge against the State Government's anti-bikie laws.

Tony Jardine, of the Rebels Motorcycle Club on the Sunshine Coast, said the bikers were confident of defeating the laws.

"Well, we're welcoming the High Court challenge. Most of us are sitting around waiting for it to happen," he said.

The spokesman for the United Motorcycle Council of Queensland, Mick Kosenko, said donations were coming from all sectors - not just from bikers - and the UMC's target was to raise $500,000.

He said the money would be better spent elsewhere, but the UMC had been given no choice.

"They (the State Government) just brought in some crazy laws, threw them at us and said it was a war," he said.

"I'd be happy to sit down with them and talk it out."

The UMC announced officially yesterday that it was proceeding with the high stakes legal challenge, but exactly when it occurred depended on when charges were laid under the new Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment laws. …
