AN IPSWICH man who crashed a Cooloola Coast Christmas party, armed with five knives "Wolverine style" and threatened to kill guests has been sentenced to nine months in jail.

Christopher Keith Fulton, 32, told party-goers next door to the property where he was staying he would kill them because he thought they were laughing at him during a fight he was having with his fiancee.

Fulton, despite discussing the prosecution's facts with his defence part-way through the hearing, pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday to going armed so as to cause fear to a 13-year-old child at the party.

The court heard Fulton kicked his girlfriend in the head twice in an argument during which he thought she had thrown her $4000 engagement ring away.

When he thought the party-goers were laughing at him over the fence, he told children there he would "fix" them up.

He then went inside the house and armed himself with five 30cm-long filleting knives. …
