PEOPLE MAKE THE NEWS - The Grafton representative on the Board of Tick Control, Mr M C Bultitude, has retired. Mr Bultitude was no longer eligible for board membership because Grafton had recently been declared a tick-free area. He had served as a director for three years.

CAUGHT IN SAW - Frances James Mulligan of Oliver street, Grafton, received a severely injured left thumb, and injuries to the left palm when he caught his hand in a circular saw yesterday. Mulligan is employed as a carpenter by W Robson, of Grafton.

END OF CANE SEASON - The cane harvesting season on the Clarence for 1963 ended on Tuesday, with 223,319 tons being crushed. The total crush was about 15,000 tons below the original estimate the secretary of the Clarence Sugar Executive, Mr J Skinner, said yesterday.

COLLISION AT SWAN CREEK - A minor accident occurred on the Swan Creek bridge, Pacific highway, about 1.50pm yesterday when a motor van, driven by John Stagg, of Morningside, Brisbane, collided with a motor car driven by Mrs Dorreen Pearl Bailey, of Ulmarra. …
