DIGNITY U WEAR EXPANDS TO BAKER

Dignity U Wear, a nonprofit dedicated to providing clothes to those in need, will work in conjunction with Baker County public schools to expand its Learning with Dignity program into the county. The donations will be made possible through a $10,000 grant from the Tampa-based Hobbs Foundation.

2 BAKER COUNTY

SIGN NOT ENOUGH FOR DANGEROUS BAKER INTERSECTION

A divided highway sign proposed by the Transportation Department for the intersection of U.S. 90 and Interstate 10 was deemed insufficient by the County Commission. There have been numerous fatal crashes there. The commission requested a study by the department to determine the best course of action. The FDOT said the sign would be a temporary fix until the study is completed in the spring.

3 CLAY COUNTY

GOV. SCOTT SPOTLIGHTS 2 CLAY TEACHERS

Gov. Rick Scott has recognized two Clay County teachers who served in the military. Kenneth McAllister of Clay County High School and David Silverman of the county Center for Adult and Community Education each received the Governor's Shine Award for their service to the country and contributions to the state's students. McAllister retired from the U.S. Air Force after 15 years. Silverman served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 11 years then switched to active duty in the Florida Army National Guard.

4 ST. JOHNS COUNTY

MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE DISTINCTION

The St. Johns County Medical Examiner's Office recently received accreditation for meeting or exceeding national performance standards. The accreditation is from the National Association of Medical Examiners. The office serves St. Johns, Putnam and Flagler counties. It is among seven of the state's 24 medical examiner districts to receive the certification.
