A Gentle Toot Keeps Traffic Flowing Along

IF GOD hadn't meant us to use horns, he wouldn't have put them on cars in the first place, would he?

They would have been optional extras, like sunroofs and wolf nipple chips.

But no. He made them compulsory - like brakes and that sort of stuff.

So why, oh why, is my wife so opposed to them?

She's normally a rational, reasonably sane (depending on the day of the week) woman who abides by the laws of God and the land.

But she hates people using the horn on their cars.

She doesn't understand they are a legitimate means of communication.

Don't get me wrong. I don't believe there's anything to be gained by going Rambo on another driver just because he's a bit slow taking off from the lights. But what's wrong with a gentle toot to wake them up?

In fact, someone should come up with an internationally recognised code for the use of horns in vehicles.

Something that is taught to young people when they are learning to drive.

That way people could communicate in traffic. …
