ANNA Baque fears she and her family will be homeless for Christmas.

Anna, her husband David Eglit and their four children have experienced more setbacks in the past 12 months than many care to face in a lifetime.

But the family remains resilient, relying on the generosity of friends.

"You feel like you're failing your children," she said.

"At this time of year, the kids are talking about setting up a home for Christmas, but we don't have a house.

"We don't want anything for free. We just need someone to give us a chance."

Anna is fighting reoccurring thyroid cancer and her doctor has delayed treatment until January, to give her time to find a place where she can recover.

Fortunately, Centrelink will cover 80% of Anna's wage while she's fighting the cancer, and her job at the Caloundra Aquatic Centre will still be there when she is well enough to return.
