Korbin May Be Ironic Choice in Future Origin

RUGBY LEAGUE: Even Queensland's head State of Origin selector Des Morris admits it will be strange if Korbin Sims dons the Maroons jersey in the coming years.

Sims comes from Gerringong, the home of his brothers Tariq and Ashton, as well as former New South Wales star Mick Cronin.

Tariq has represented NSW Country twice over the past two years in the annual Blues' Origin trial.

But Korbin pledged his allegiance to the sunshine state in 2008, after he joined the Broncos as a 16-year-old.

Korbin then represented the Maroons at under-16 and under-18 level, before being selected for the first time in Queensland's senior Emerging Maroons squad on Tuesday.

"It is pretty weird, the prospect that Korbin could one day play State of Origin against one (or both) of his brothers," Morris said.

"But Korbin made it clear last year (before getting picked for the Junior Emerging Maroons squad) that he wanted to represent Queensland, after spending some time playing up here. …
