World Juniors a Stepping Stone for Young Quinn

COOLANGATTA junior surfer Quinn Bruce is flying the flag for the southern Gold Coast as he gets set to represent Australia at the ISA World Junior Championship in Ecuador in 2014.

The Aussie team are the reigning world champs and are going into South America aiming to go to back to back.

Quinn, who is sponsored by Volcom and frequents the line-up at Snapper Rocks, said he was frothing on his selection as one of only four juniors to be selected in the Under 16's division.

Regarded as a future world tour surfer by many in the industry, Quinn said he just wanted to focus on one goal at a time, the trip to Ecuador being number one on his current list.

A move from the Sunshine Coast to Coolangatta and school at Palm Beach Currumbin High has paid off for the young shredder.

"I get to surf five times a week at school and we live within walking distance of Snapper Rocks, on the hill at Duranbah," Quinn said.

National team coach Andy King was confident the team would perform well at the world champs but said it was not all about individual performance or winning. …
