In November 2011 a Melbourne chemists ATM was blown to pieces by gas, shattering the shopfront.

In November 2008 three Sydney ATMs were blown up within hours of each other. An attempt was made to blow up a fourth.

Between December '08 and April '09 Sydney saw another 13 gas attacks.

BRAZEN bandits have attempted to use a gas-fuelled explosion to break into a Tweed Heads South Bank of Queensland ATM.

The attempted robbery occurred about 5.50am yesterday Tweed Byron LAC Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen said.

"It was an attempted theft from an ATM," he said.

"It appears they've attempted to use gas to explosive effect."

Detectives were at the crime scene yesterday at 2 Blundell Blvd for several hours taking fingerprints, collecting closed circuit television video and taking photos. …
