Knife-Wielding Teenager Terrorises Care Workers; Girl, 14, Faces Attempted Murder Charge after Violent Incident at Nursing Home

TWO staff at an aged care facility were held at knifepoint during a violent rampage through the streets of Rosewood.

A 14-year-old girl was charged with attempted murder after she allegedly held a knife against the throat of one staff member and slashed another, causing minor cuts, at the Cabanda Care nursing home on Sunday night.

A series of dangerous storms passed through at around 11pm on Sunday night, cutting power to the facility. The power loss triggered the fire alarm, which automatically opened the facility's electronic sliding doors, giving the teen the chance to enter the home.

Prior to confronting the staff, it is alleged the teen smashed a window at Rosewood State High School on two occasions - once on Sunday night and on Christmas morning.

She was arrested by police within minutes of running from the facility and confronting another two staff with the knife.

Ipswich District inspector Keith McDonald said the staff confronted by the suspect were not physically injured but were traumatised by the incident. …
