CAPPING off the inaugural Falls Music and Arts Festival in Byron Bay was up to MGMT, The Wombats, The Violent Femmes and Neil Finn.

The event, held at the North Byron Parklands at Yelgun, saw 15,000 punters across the three-day event.

Performances continued on the final day, including a slot in The Village by Brisbane solo act Emmaline.

The alternative pop musician has performed at festivals previously; however, this was her first time solo.

"There's such a great crowd," she said. "But we do feel a little too conservative compared to some of the people wandering around."

All in all she was happy to be on stage after "begging to the right people" to get involved.

On Wednesday crowds had to grin and bear it through the dust, but they were hardly complaining.

The Rubens frontman Sam Margin struggled through his set, caused not by the dust but New Year's Eve celebrations. …
