Luxury Property Sales Reflect Strong Demand

PENTHOUSE apartments at the marina and mansions in West Mackay and Dolphin Heads were among the most expensive homes sold in Mackay last year.

While there are currently plenty of homes for sale, Harcourts real estate agent Ben Chick said luxurious properties were still in hot demand.

"People are talking about it (being low) now, but there are still people out there with a lot of money that do want to buy a house," Mr Chick said.

There had been 14 homes sold for over $1million within a 10km radius of the Mackay CBD, he said.

This included four penthouse apartments at the marina, which sold for just over $1million each. They came with 180-degree views of the harbour and marina, pools and four bedrooms.

Another big sale was a house in West Mackay, which went for $1.7million.

Situated on just over an acre, the house had five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Mr Chick described it as "one of the best homes in Mackay". …
