TWO Coast filmmakers are behind the latest independent Australian film about to hit the worldwide festival circuit.

Director Ashlee Jensen, of Woombye, and producer Terrance Young, of Sippy Downs, have spent the past year filming and editing the drama 500 Miles, co-written by Young and filmed in Woombye, Montville, Brisbane and Rosewood, west of Ipswich.

Young, 28, spent a decade writing and fine-tuning the drama's script, which he co-wrote with Jennifer Coghlan.

"I wanted to tell a love story that was set in reality with real people with an overall grittiness and rawness to the whole thing," Young told the Daily.

"We tried to get it up and running in Sydney when I lived there years ago before moving to Queensland but other projects took more importance as I didn't feel the script was ready yet."

This is Jensen's feature film directorial debut.

A University of the Sunshine Coast student, the 26-year-old is also a published children's author with two more books slated for publication this month. …
