Treasures Abound in Cottage

STEPPING into the historic Pringle Cottage is like taking a step back in time for two dedicated museum volunteers.

Warwick and District Historical Society volunteers Judy Mobbs and Heather Gould are among a team of passionate residents who run the museum complex in Dragon Street.

Mrs Mobbs said the museum was interesting and out of the ordinary.

"The whole museum is full of interesting bits and pieces," she said.

"There are so many fascinating things gathered here."

One of the pieces that has won over Mrs Mobbs is a 19th century German record player, called a kalliope.

The kalliope was found sitting on the bar of a hotel in Warwick, Mrs Mobbs said.

"The story is that it never worked until it fell to the floor one night during a fight," she said.

The kalliope is just one of 15,000 items in the historical society's collection.

Most of the museum's collection has been donated by families and businesses across the district. …
