CRICKET: Brothers had Norths' backs against the wall in yesterday's round four fixture of the Daily Mercury T20 Shootout.

But a captain's knock from Brant Attard revived a slow-starting Norths, and put them in a position neither team would have thought possible.

"When I walked out we were 5-16 and then we lost another one not long after that to be 6-24," Attard said.

"Then Jason Butterworth and myself had a 103-run partnership and that got us up to a good score.

"We dug ourselves out of a hole and got ourselves a competitive total of 132."

Attard's 67 not out, under great pressure, was by far the highlight of the match, but the skipper humbly played down his performance.

"I got a few, which was nice, but I just did my bit," he said.

After the disappointment of watching Norths' total blow out, Brothers missed their chance to redeem themselves with the bat.

Although they found themselves in a similar position to Norths at six wickets down, they didn't have the same resolve as Norths, and their tail collapsed quickly. …
