Champion Lifesaver Girls: Georgia Webb (U14 girls); Kirra Horton (U14 girls gold medal); Annebel Head (U14 girls bronze medal).

Champion Lifesaver Boys: Liam Farrelly (U14 boys); Nathan Thomson (U14 boys silver medal); Nick Miller (U15 boys silver medal).

Patrol Competition: (There is no U14 Patrol Competition so Hervey Bay team had to compete up in the U15 division) Liam Farrelly, Nathan Thomson, Georgia Webb and Kirra Horton - 4th place

IT WAS a battle of brains, brawn and big hearts at the Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Surf Rescue Championships on Saturday, with Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club capturing its first major title of the year at Moore Park Beach.

The club's six members - Georgia Webb, Kirra Horton, Annebel Head, Liam Farrelly, Nathan Thomson and Nick Miller - combined to claim handicap honours for the first time in six years.

HBSLSC youth development officer, Ian Merrett, said despite strong swells and choppy surf, the boys and girls, aged 13 to 15, exceeded expectations. …
