Popular Bird Lesley on Flying Visit to the North

AS mad-loving temptress Dorien in revived TV series Birds of a Feather, Lesley Joseph does not spare our blushes, but now it's more a case of flushes as she co-stars in a stage show which recounts in colourful detail the ups and downs of life as an older woman.

Hot Flush!, one of a run of shows highlighting ladies of a certain age, returns to the region in spring where it's made a date with Sunderland Empire for April 23.

The comedy musical's one-nightonly performance is set to cause a flutter, as Joseph is very much back in the public eye with Birds of a Feather's return to the screen last week.

The sitcom, co-starring Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson, returned on January 6 on ITV 1 following a 16-year gap after its successful run over nine years ended in 1998. And it won rave reviews with fans warmly welcoming back Joseph's neighbour from hell, Dorien.

Her stage character in Hot Flush! - which itself has proved its staying power with five sell-out tours - is Myra, a divorce barrister who's been abandoned by her husband for another woman and is one of four menopausal friends sharing the secrets, laughter and tears that play a part in ordinary women's lives. …
