Parking an Uphill Battle

IF YOU'VE got to walk a few hundred metres uphill in the summer heat and you've got a heart condition, you'd want the Rockhampton Hospital to be your destination.

For Peter Rowe he's got little choice when it comes to parking at the hospital and finds himself parking streets away.

The 56-year-old has a heart condition and is tired of having to walk a distance to get to his appointments.

There are 160 car parks for the public to use, but according to Peter they always seem to be full.

"There's no parking at that hospital at all, it's built on the steepest hill in town," Peter said.

"Last time I went there I parked at Hillcrest Hospital and walked all the way around."

The Mt Morgan man suffers from an irregular heartbeat, which often sees him tired and lose energy.

"The walk from my car to the hospital tired me out, I just couldn't do anything the next day," Peter said.

And Peter doesn't know where to turn when it comes to fixing the parking issue. …
