Alan Does Lions' Share; Helping out Others Is Top Achievement

ALAN Moore has travelled the world, raised a family and run his own businesses.

Yet his most treasured accomplishment is his work with the Lions Club.

The 84-year-old Mountain Creek man is celebrating 55 years with the Lions Club, including five years with Apex.

The humble man said dedicating his life to helping those in need came naturally and fulfilled him.

Mr Moore, a member of Mooloolaba Lions Club, has a passion for helping the community, meeting new people and staying active.

He moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1982 after calling the Gympie region home for six years.

The father-of-two opened a pharmacy in Buddina shortly before moving to the Coast.

When Mr Moore retired from business in 1998, he decided to jump on his boat and sail along the east coast of Australia.

His trip lasted five years.

"I think staying active after you retire keeps you young," Mr Moore said.

"I keep busy with croquet and Lions. …
