THE after effects of victorious state title campaigns were felt in Ipswich Division 1 vigoro fixtures on Saturday.

Occasionals sprung an upset by beating ladder leaders TC United while Wildcats claimed outright victory over Sports to move into second spot.

Occasionals batted first against United and managed 69, which few thought would be enough against the form team of the competition.

But Occasionals needed only two bowlers, Mel Park and Christina Range, with the help of several runouts, to dismiss United for just 22.

"The season is always different after state titles," Park said.

"You come out thinking anything is defendable."

The oppressive conditions may have also contributed to United's short first innings.

"It was really humid," Park said.

"It was stinking down there.

"I joked with Christina '15 minutes is long enough to spend in the heat'.

"Then the wickets started falling."

The state titles effect was evident in United's second innings and in Wildcats' outright win over Sports. …
