Rockers Hit Road to Sydney

FROM a sweaty makeshift rehearsal room next to his parents' laundry in Bellbird Park, Shannon Blinston and his heavy-riffing mates are working hard at getting metal back on the map in Ipswich.

Home by Sudden Landslide formed in phases over the past couple of years and has quickly been able to work up some of its own material into a recent self- titled EP, with a view to working on an album further down the track.

When it comes to gigging around town, it seems these young rockers just missed the boat, with one of the main venues for metal fans in town dying off just as the band was ready to unleash.

Guitarist Kiel Long said the lads were keen to put some much- needed energy back into the local scene - for their own benefit and everyone else's.

"We know a few people who are very committed to getting the metal thing going again," Long said.

"We are teaming up with a promotional group and trying to do regular gigs at the Prince of Wales Hotel in town. …
