Mum Loves to Help Others; Author Hopes Book Will Shine Helpful Light on Parents Who Live with Mental Illness

CHRISTINE Stammers knows what it's like to live with mental illness.

She has seen first-hand how hard it can be on family and carers. She knows because she has been there.

After suffering her first episode at a young age, Christine went undiagnosed until she was 30 years old.

She now uses her experiences to help others and raise community awareness.

Christine is the author of My Mum is Amazing, a book she wrote with the help of her young daughter to highlight what it is like for a child to live with a parent who has a mental illness.

But as the motto on her website states, "living with a mental illness isn't easy, but like managing any illness, it can be done".

Being unwell for so long, Christine found she not only did not have many memories, but of the ones she had, not many were good.

Now she has set herself the task of creating good memories and learning to laugh again.

One thing she has discovered about herself is that she is very good at enabling others on their recovery journey. …
