THERE'S no question that Pixie Lott makes a particularly lovely corpse. The Mama Do and Boys And Girls singer-songwriter has been spreading her acting wings playing a murder victim on the BBC's Sixties-set crime drama Inspector George Gently with actors Martin Shaw and Lee Ingleby trying to find her killer.

"We were looking for someone to play Megan, an entertainer at the Blue Bird Holiday Camp in 1969," says Producer Matthew Bird. "We were looking for an actress that could act, sing and dance and then I saw Pixie acting so brilliantly with Rowan Atkinson in their performance of Goodness Gracious Me (filmed for the NHS Organ Donation From The Heart campaign). Going briefly back to the swinging 60s was a dream come true for Pixie ...even if she had to die to do it.

She fell in love with southern soul and the sound of 1960s Stax Records as a child and her forthcoming album is inspired by that style.

Pixie admits she even raids the wardrobes of her mum and grandmother to pick out original pieces from that era to wear. "Luckily they kept everything," she grins, "they never threw anything away."

Victoria Louise was nicknamed Pixie by her mother because she was so cute as a baby and at 15 she signed a recording deal with American music mogul LA Reid.

The 23-year-old has gone on to have nine top 20 singles and has penned tunes for Alexandra Burke and Girls Can't Catch.

If that isn't enough she also made her film debut in 2010's Fred: The Movie and appeared in the follow up Fred 2: Night Of The Living Dead and her music has featured on the soundtracks of the movie Streetdance 3D and American medical drama Private Practice.

Pixie's debut album Turn It Up sold more than a million copies worldwide and followed by Young Foolish Happy in 2011 and new single Nasty comes out on March 9 through Virgin EMI ahead of the third album this spring.

"It's just called Pixie Lott because it's the most personal album I've done, it represents me, and I wanted to put my name to it," explains the singer, who cites Otis Redding, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston as major influences. …
