AFTER scoring on Tears From Heaven at Musselburgh last Wednesday, Ferryhill amateur Richard Smith rounded off a great week with his fifth pointing winner of the campaign on the unfancied Avinapaddy in yesterday's Sinnington fixture at Helmsley, writes PETER BURGON.

Produced with a well-timed challenge between the last two fences in the Restricted Race, Smith's mount quickly asserted and had five lengths to spare over Sposalizio.

Smith said of the ten-year-old: "I've done a lot of schooling with him in the last couple of months. He travelled well through the race, met the last perfectly and will improve again."

The former Patrick Griffin- trained hurdler, Dica turned a competitive-looking 16-runner Confined Race into a procession under a well judged ride from Paul Collins.

Sent on with a circuit to go, the eight-yearold galloped his rivals into submission and cruised home six lengths ahead of Sportingfriendship.

Saltburn-based Collins, a part-time farrier, said of his charge: "He was recommended to me by James Reveley who used to ride him under Rules; I bought him for PS3,500 at Doncaster Sales in August. …
