RUGBY LEAGUE: Vanuatu international Alex Marango has made a career-defining move to Mackay in order to play and train under the watchful eye of his coach for both club and country.

The 20-year-old has linked up with Sharks coach Dave Simpson because he saw it as an opportunity to get the most out of himself in his quest for a professional football career.

He said Simpson's full-time guidance would put him on track to achieving everything he wants to achieve.

"It's just a great opportunity to come up here and to learn more about the game from him (Simpson)," Marango said.

"He's been great so far. Dave's been providing me with heaps, and I'm living with him now as well.

"I was down on the Sunshine Coast last year playing for the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles under-20s, then I moved back home to Sydney after the season finished, then moved up here.

"I just want to learn more from Simo, and just see how far I can go in my footy career. …
