RON Alterator says that if he can't get to Brisbane for his specialist appointments he will eventually go blind.

And if he has to travel by train rather than plane, he says he won't be able to afford it.

The Rockhampton pensioner has macular degeneration. He has lost the sight in his left eye and specialists are fighting to save the sight in his right.

For nearly two years, he has flown to Brisbane for his monthly appointments.

He is desperately worried that under the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme, he will now be made to travel by train rather than plane, turning a one-day return trip into a three-day journey. …
