JONJO O'Neill's Allow Dallow has had the misfortune to bump into two above-average recruits so far this season but will surely get off the mark in Exeter's Maiden Hurdle.

A point-to-point winner, his owners parted with 100,000 guineas to get him and would have been delighted with his hurdling debut when second to Philip Hobbs' Royal Regatta at Leicester.

He looked all over the winner next time at Uttoxeter when cruising to the front but was worn down close home. The heavy ground possibly went against him but having won over three miles in point company, there can be few doubts about his stamina.

If Tullamore Dew can reproduce his Wetherby effort against Cloudy Too in what looked a good renewal of the Rowland Meyrick Chase then he should take some beating in the Veterans' Handicap Chase.

The difficulty is that Nick Gifford's chaser has made a career out of running well in races where he looked outclassed and disappointing in contests where, on paper at least, he should be going close to winning.

Dropped 3lb for finishing a 10-length second, the handicapper has at least given him a chance.

Catcher Star left all previous form well behind when winning at Wetherby on Boxing Day and with his confidence riding high, he can strike again in the Handicap Hurdle.

Well beaten in all his three outings last term, Catcher Star was a game neck winner of an average event at the Yorkshire venue having evidently improved over the summer.

The handicapper has put him up 5lb for that success but Catcher Star may be good enough to deal with a such a rise.

Beacon Tarn can maintain her 100% record at Southwell in the Compare Bookmakers At bookmakers. Handicap. It is stating the obvious that Southwell lends itself well to track specialists such as Dubai Hills and La Estrella and while Beacon Tarn will have to go some to match their exploits, she is two from two as it stands. …
