Lauren's Life-Long Love of Styling at Hair on Boyne

A MOMENT of serendipity helped Lauren Powell find her beloved hair salon in Boyne Island that she recently bought, after six years of leasing the building.

Her husband John and his mate Craig Bastian -- who with his wife Karen were a great help to Ms Powell in setting up the salon -- found the shop front on the way to get bait to go fishing.

Had they not stumbled across the space, with her positive attitude and personal motto "to take every day as it comes" the Hair on Boyne owner is the type of person who would have surely made the most of any situation.

Originally from South Africa, Ms Powell has always had a fascination with hair, playing with her grandparent's locks when she was just seven, cutting her dolls' hair to practice and then being caught cutting someone's hair for them in the bathroom during her first year of high school.

Determined to follow her passion for hairdressing she left school at age 15, became a qualified stylist by 18 and opened her first salon when she was just 19. …
