IT'S funny to think that not so long ago Brisbane was still considered a big country town.

Now, taking pride of place just 1.5km north-west of the city centre is the place they call Lang Park - Suncorp Stadium if you are the corporate type.

Lang Park's a major redevelopment in the early 2000s turned it into a modern football stadium, capable of seating 52,000 fans.

The suburbs surrounding Lang Park have sprouted a vast array of top bars and restaurants.

The stadium is positioned to take advantage of some of the best sights, sounds and tastes of the River City.

Our weekend started with a check-in at the Diamant Hotel at Spring Hill.

The room on the sixth floor included a mini-bar, flat-screen TV, a spacious, modern bathroom and a queen bed.

Wallaby legend George Gregan and his wife Erica have restaurants across the country and the One One One building on Eagle St is one of them.

The George Bar and Bistro has a clean and corporate look. …
