SOCIAL dog walking is growing in popularity. In the past two years, Susan Armstrong has seen more dog lovers join the weekly walks.

"Walks can vary between 10 and 40 walkers - and dogs, normally somewhere in between," Mrs Armstrong said. The walks have come a long way in two years.

"I started to organise small group dog walks not long after I moved to Australia," Mrs Armstrong said.

"We started with about four or five dogs walking around the Gooseponds once a week. Then I got involved with the council, just over a year ago, and started doing the city dog walks. It progressed since then and now it's huge!"

Walkers have a choice of when to join the social walk/workout.

"The main walks meet at Bluewater Quay by the giant fish bones, River St on Saturday mornings," she said.

"We also organise some off-lead beach play dates, splitting between Bucasia and Town Beach, during off-lead dog walking hours and at the required areas - normally Sunday afternoons. …
