HUNT PERMITS STILL AVAILABLE FOR NASSAU WMA

People looking for a place to hunt small game and spring turkey still have a chance to purchase a recreational-use permit for the remainder of the 2013-14 hunting season on Nassau Wildlife Management Area. For more go to MyFWC.com and click on "Licenses & Permits." Then click on "Limited Entry/Quota Hunts." Go to the Recreational Use section about halfway down and click on "Nassau Recreational Use Permit."

SEN. BEAN TO SPEAK AT BANQUET

State Sen. Aaron Bean will be the keynote speaker at the Heart to Heart banquet Feb. 15 in Macclenny to benefit the Baker County Veterans Council. There will be dinner, auctions and entertainment. SCOTT APPOINTS UTILITY AUTHORITY MEMBER

Michael Vallencourt, 54, of Orange Park has been appointed to the Clay County Utility Authority by Gov. Rick Scott. Vallencourt is president of Vallencourt Construction. His term goes through Sept. 30, 2016.

ARTS AND COMMUNITY CENTER BOARD FILLS OUT

The City Council has named incumbent Hattie E. Alexander of Orange Park along with newcomers Peter F. Strohmaier and Sandra Royal to the city-owned Augusta Savage Arts and Community Center board of directors.

TOURISM COUNCIL EVENT FUNDING

The county Tourist Development Council has approved funding for these 2014 events: $2,500 for the 42nd annual Beach Paddle Tennis Championship, $5,000 for VeloFest, $3,000 for the Bike Florida Inc. 20 Magical History Tour and $5,000 for the Murray Brothers Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament.
