Syringe 'Hot Spots'; Mother Furious after Son, 4, in Latest Needle Incident

THE Mackay community has spoken out against "disgusting ferals" who aren't disposing of their used syringes appropriately.

The outburst from concerned residents follows news that a seven-year-old boy stood on a used syringe at a South Mackay playground at the weekend.

The boy is awaiting results from the first in a series of tests.

The Daily Mercury Facebook page was bombarded with comments about where people had found used syringes in Mackay.

Suzi Little commented, saying her four-year-old son almost stood on a needle in Sarina last week.

"He's only four and wasn't aware of the dangers of needles," she said.

"We've had to sit both him and his sister down and explain to them why it's so dangerous and that people do naughty things.

"It's devastating and very upsetting to have to explain to babies about drugs.

"To the people who leave needles lying on the streets, you are disgusting ferals. …
