Article excerpt

Seniors Week is a national event all about celebrating being a senior, trying new activities, opening new doors, becoming informed and meeting new people.

During March 15-23 organisations on the Coffs Coast, including government, community and commercial enterprises are offering seniors the opportunity to try a new activity.

There is something for everyone and this year the great range of activities include:

For the adventurous: come along to a Bush Tucker Walking Tour at Woolgoolga Lake, hear tales of The Buster shipwreck at Woolgoolga Beach or explore and enjoy kayaking and get to places most others can't, and if you're really daring grab a free lesson at Stand Up Paddle Boarding;

For lovers of film and music: Grab a friend, blanket and chair and enjoy Colourfest Film Festival Under the stars, experience and embrace the Multicultural Festival, and don't miss out on Australia's finest exponents of living music Ensemble Offspring, engaging and fun featuring flute, clarinet and vibraphone.

Need a new sport or fitness idea: Lifeball indoor ball sports at Sportz Central is a fun group who laugh, chat and play ball.

Boomers fitness classes are all about providing healthy inspiration and if you haven't discovered yoga for seniors, zumba for seniors, new vogue dancing, indoor bowls or aqua exercise, it is all about giving it a try this week.

Art appreciation: Discover the talent of our local artists and photographers, visit the Cartoon and Wildlife Photography Exhibition at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery or the Live Life Exhibition at the Woolgoolga Art Gallery. …
