What a Site for Sore Eyes; Facebook-Free February a Lonely Success

IT'S finally over and I am proud to announce Facebook-Free February was a success.

For an entire month I was disconnected from the estimated one billion Facebook users.

But it's March now and I am back to my former Facebook habits. Like an addict, it didn't take me long to get into the swing of using again.

Fortunately, for the month I was Facebook-free, I enlisted the help of a friend who agreed to change my password and withhold it from me.

I found out on Saturday she changed it to

"no.more.stalking".

It's probably too early to tell if my month of abstinence has yielded any long-term benefits.

For the first couple of weeks I enjoyed my social media solace.

For the last week or two, that solace morphed into solitude as I regretted not getting more friend's mobile numbers after the great iPhone reboot of 2012 deleted all my contacts ... twice.

Facebook does make it easier to stay in contact with friends.

It lets you know where they are and what they're doing (as creepy as that sounds) so you can plan a long-overdue catch-up. …
