New facility

Building of the facility will start in April and is expected to finish in March 2015.

It will include 20 one bedroom villas with a kitchen, bathroom and laundry in each.

THE director of a new mental health facility in North Rockhampton has reassured residents the project will be good for the community.

Director of Mental Health Services at Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, Lindsay Farley, said the 20-unit facility was a vital community service aimed at transitioning people from hospital care to independent living. Mr Farley responded to concerns raised on Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry's Facebook page by Leesa Connolly, who lives in the street where the units will be built.

Ms Conolly said she was concerned the community hadn't been invited to voice their opinion at a public forum, or been told what type of patients would be living in the units. …
