Former Rep Star Boosts Thistles; Morgan Takes on Two-Pronged Coaching Mission

IPSWICH women's coach Lisa Morgan has wasted little time working with her new club side Thistles.

She expects to field an A-grade team rich in promise.

However, preparing for Sunday's season-opening clash against Norths, the former Australian under-21 and state player has enjoyed some pre-game banter, having four Devils in her representative squad.

"From what I can judge, they have got a standard side from last year so I think they'll be a very well-drilled team," Morgan said.

Morgan took on the Thistles coaching role, having returned with the Ipswich women's side last season following a stint working with Commercial in the Brisbane Division 1 competition.

"I took on Thistles because it is a nice challenge," she said. "It's a long-term plan."

She said Thistles had a number of changes from last year's side.

"It's still a really young side," she said. "There wouldn't be too many over 21. …
