TAFE Students Shine; Top Graduate Did Three Full-Time Courses in One Year

THE graduation awards ceremony at Maclean TAFE last week showcased many successful and proud students from 2013.

One graduate, Junko Sakamato, proved that hard work, determination and a dream would always be rewarded.

Ms Sakamoto was named graduate of the year after completing three full-time courses and starting her own business, and is going on to further study at Maclean and Grafton TAFE this year.

"I set my goals and made a strategy for keeping motivated," Ms Sakamoto said.

"I asked a former classmate who received an Excellence Award last year, and she recorded a[approximately]just do it!' on my phone, so that every time I got a call I would hear it with her voice and was reminded of it.

"Then when it like felt too much, I just told myself, a[approximately]Just do it a[degrees] tomorrow,' and these strategies worked really well for me."

Successfully completing one full-time course is an achievement in itself, but Ms Sakamoto was able to finish a Certificate IV in Business Administration, Certificate III in Employment and Training, and a Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Web Technologies. …
