No Plea from Cop Facing Glock and Sex Charges

THE case against a senior police officer accused of having sex with a prostitute in the Kingscliff watch house has been delayed.

Sergeant Mark Garner, 49, was expected to be arraigned in the Sydney District court yesterday morning but no plea was entered.

The sidelined officer was allegedly on duty when he allegedly committed the offence in September, 2011.

He is accused of allowing the sex worker to handle his police Glock pistol.

A hearing has been set down for March 28.

Sgt Garner is one of three officers facing criminal charges over a series of scandals to rock Tweed/Byron command.

Two others charged over an unrelated internal investigation into Tweed/Byron police ranks will also be before the courts in coming weeks.

Discharged Detective Inspector Shane Diehm, who left with full entitlements in 2012 will front a two-day special fixture hearing over allegations he lied to the NSW police watchdog. …
