IT'S been a long time between drinks for Southside United skipper Alden Gregory and his teammates.

The beers were flowing on Saturday night as Southside booked their place in the 2014 FFA Cup Central Queensland final with a courageous 1-1 (6-5) sudden death penalty shootout win over Nerimbera at Jardine Park.

They did it with a man down after Shaun Jasperson's second yellow card early in the second half saw him sitting on the sidelines for the final 70 minutes of the match.

"A credit to the boys we dug deep," Gregory said.

"When we had 11-men Nerimbera seemed to be on top but we really lifted and were the better team in the second half with 10 men.

"The feeling was bloody good (and) the boys are pumped. It's been a while for us since we've had this feeling. …
