IN the lead-up to this year's Crankfest in Evans Head, a little piece of the youth festival is heading around the region.

The annual festival gained $5000 from Indent (Music NSW) to take Crankfest on tour, meaning organisers are able to bring the music of the festival to a wider audience.

The Crank It Up tour sees four local bands join together to play gigs in Casino, Lismore, Kyogle and then Crankfest itself.

The mini events are run by young people from each town, all passionate about live music and frustrated by the lack of youth-friendly events in the region.

The four bands - Seabound from Casino, SubStation (pictured) from Lismore, Elemental from Kyogle, and Moans Like Lisa from Evans Head - run the show backstage in each of their respective towns.

The Casino show went down earlier this month, while Lismore will get to Crank It Up tonight at the Lismore PCYC.

Crankfest co-ordinator Tarryn Cole said the planning for this year's event was going really well. …
