A PARTY was held last night in honour of a Middlesbrough schoolgirl who has never been forgotten by her family, friends and a community hit hard by her tragic death.

Nikki Conroy was just 12 when her life was cut short by a masked killer who stabbed her in a classroom at Hall Garth School in Acklam, Middlesbrough on March 28, 1994.

Last night, Lee Bowes, her boyfriend at the time of her death, held a 20th anniversary party in her honour at Liberty's in Town in Middlesbrough.

The event was attended by Nikki's parents, Diane and Peter, from Acklam, the first time they have marked the anniversary publicly.

The venue was packed with over 400 people, all determined to "celebrate Nikki's life".

Lee, 33, from Saltersgill, met Nikki through a mutual friend when he was 13 and a pupil at neighbouring King's Manor School.

"Nikki was such a kind, gentle, caring, beautiful girl with one of them smiles that could light up a room - and just as beautiful inside as she was outside," said Lee, who has a five-year-old daughter, Ruby. …
