ORGANISERS of electronic music festival Rabbits Eat Lettuce will stage their event in the Northern Rivers after initial plans to hold the rave party closer to Coffs Harbour were deemed "high risk" by Coffs Harbour City Council staff.

Festival promoter ArtOfficial Entertainment has gained permission from Richmond Valley Council to hold the four-day festival on private property, just south of Casino, on April 18-21.

That comes after local issues were raised over its original intent for the festival to go ahead on a Fridays Creek property.

"We are from the Coffs Harbour area, so naturally we would love to host Rabbits in our backyard in a secluded private valley venue just west of Coffs Harbour," ArtOfficial said in a statement to the Advocate.

"Our Coffs Harbour venue is one of the most spectacular in Australia, however Coffs Harbour City Council have not yet responded to our development application, which was lodged back in February."

A Coffs Harbour City Council representative responded, saying planning and engineering staff had met with festival organisers and raised public safety concerns over the proposed Fridays Creek venue. …
