Family Time after Elbow; Fighter Got Eight-Count after Hit

MARTIAL ARTS: Former Mackay muay thai fighter and new dad Andrew Keogh has had his last fight for a little while.

The 36-year-old is taking some time out of the ring to spend some quality time with his wife Emmy Lee and two-week-old son Kasharin.

He said his passion for muay thai was still alive, but he said he wanted to focus on being a dad for a while.

"I'm going to have probably two months off because I've just had a little baby boy," he said.

"I'm still pretty keen (to fight), but I haven't spent as much time with (my family) as I'd like to yet because I've been training for this fight."

Keogh fought Brett Johnston for the World Muay Thai Council super-middleweight title in Townsville on Saturday night, and didn't go out with the bang he would have liked.

He lost the fight on points, and says a second-round lapse changed the direction of the fight.

"The first round was pretty even, and I was still going pretty good in the second, but I got an elbow in the head," he said. …
