Big Sam Still Has Fears of the Drop

SAM Allardyce has warned West Ham they are not yet safe from relegation - despite being in with a chance of taking a top-10 finish off former club Newcastle United.

Six wins from their last 10 games have seen the Hammers climb away from trouble and they are currently seven points above the drop zone.

But weekend wins for Fulham, Cardiff and Crystal Palace have got the Upton Park manager looking over his shoulder.

"The results some of the teams below us pulled off, some surprisingly, means we are not mathematically safe," former Toon boss Allardyce said.

"If they then get back-to-back wins you have to look down and say we're not quite there. We've got five very tough games to go, we've got to try to pick up as many points as we can."

Those five matches start with tonight's trip to Arsenal, not-so fresh from Saturday's gruelling FA Cup semi-final win on pens against Wigan.

Gunners chief Arsene Wenger admits many of his players are suffering with knocks and fatigue - and Allardyce will be looking to take advantage at the Emirates Stadium. …
