THREE of every four Central Queenslanders opts to go to a bulk-billing doctor and John Morgan is one of them.

However John isn't among the 14% Central Queenslanders who see a doctor more than 12 times a year.

That's among the higher ratios in the country.

As the nation's Health Minister Peter Dutton yesterday refused to confirm whether next month's Budget would include a $6 co-payment for doctor visits, The Bulletin yesterday took a look at the latest key health data for our region.

"I don't think people should be charged," John said.

"Once you take that (free service) away it will stop people going to the doctor because people can't afford it.

"They (the government) aren't getting their priorities right about where money can be saved."

He also raised concerns about extra stress on the already struggling Queensland Health system.

"If people can't afford to go to the doctor they'll go up to the Base," he said. …
