BASKETBALL: Clint Steindl has started his McDonald's Mackay Meteors tenure in fine form, with a standout performance over the Rockhampton Rockets at the weekend.

It was Meteors fans' first glimpse of the 200cm guard in the red and black, and they weren't disappointed.

"Clint shot the ball really well," Meteors coach Joel Khalu said.

"I think he finished with about 24 points, with about seven three-pointers."

Steindl wasn't the only high-profile player in action when the Meteors downed local rivals Rockhampton Rockets 81-74.

Khalu said all his new players saw the court, and he said the signs were good, albeit at a very early stage.

"They all had their first opportunity to play together and I saw some really positive signs," Khalu said. …
