Legacy Luncheon; More Than $11,000 Raised by Club

THE Sport Recreation and Memorial Club's Anzac Day Legacy Function exceeded all expectation by raising $11,765 for Legacy.

The lunch at Rainbow Beach was well supported and enjoyed by about 200 guests including Gympie MP David Gibson, Mr and Mrs Ahern and family, some of the coast's veteran community and dependants, ex-service members, holiday visitors and local residents.

Spokesperson Paul McMahon said from a Legacy Queensland perspective, he would like to acknowledge the contribution of the club management and staff including, Rick Modin, Afra, Peggy and all who were working on the day.

"The meal was great and the entertainment was appropriate to the occasion," Mr McMahon said.

"The two-up after the event was enthusiastic and raised in excess of $600.

"A huge thank you goes to all of the contributors but in particular Natasha and Dan Dimmock, owners of The Remote Resort, off Taveuni Island, Fiji."

The raffle of five nights accommodation and meals to the value of $4000 was drawn by Mr Gibson. …
