BATES Cottages captain Paul Baston is refusing to get carried away with their perfect start to the Northumberland Premier Division season after taking maximum points from both of their games.

Ashington Rugby are their visitors tomorrow, the skipper insisting: "We are really happy with our start to the season, but we are just taking it game by game.

"Hopefully, we can do better than we did last year when we ended up in the top four.

"Bettering that is a reasonable target to go for." Baston weighed in with three wickets and an unbeaten 29 in defeating Clara Vale last weekend, adding: "We did not get off to a great start but I came on and managed to make a breakthrough.

"We seemed to skittle them after that, but it was a bad wicket. They had not even cut it and it was just green grass. …
