Bunnings Stores Take Shape; Extra 250 New Jobs to Be Created

ANOTHER goliath is set to enter the Mackay hardware scene, with construction of the new Bunnings Warehouse at Paget in full swing.

The $34million project is on schedule for an August finish. A De Luca Constructions spokesperson said the 20-week build was going to plan to meet the handover, set down for the first week in August.

Between 35 and 100 workers have been on site at any given time.

Once completed, the Bunnings Warehouse will be more than 12,000sqm.

It's expected 240 team members will work at the Paget Bunnings, with a further 180 team members employed at the North Mackay Bunnings Warehouse, scheduled to open in early 2015.

The new warehouse in North Mackay will replace the company's existing store on Greenfields Blvd.

Bunnings Warehouse North Mackay is set to cost $38million, bringing Bunnings' total investment in Mackay to $72million.

Construction of the 15,000sqm Mackay North warehouse at the intersection of Holts and Mackay-Bucasia Rds, is set to start in coming weeks. …
